Two Bad Cats Knit

Frog pond revisited or the clue that went awry.

Well, the purses have yet to be lined and zippered. That left lace, lace, lace to be on the needles Progress on the Goddess Knits Mystery Anniversary Shawl.  It is going great, now, after 2 long trips to the frog pond. After a long sigh of happiness, a lifeline and a picture taken, I am happy to say I am finished with clue 3. Renee has made it so interesting this time as each of the 5 clues have a choice of 4 different charts. I have chosen to do the C charts all the way through. Here is a photo of my progress so far.

I have also been working on the Grey Hap shawl from Heirloom. Here is a progress photo.

I had to order the pattern again as I could not find it after my return from Michigan. Thank goodness it came so fast and I love Sharon's designs so much that I ordered The Cora in the pinks.

Here is my big chocolate bunny (chocolate lab) with his bone on the couch pillow he decided would be better on the floor. Apparently much more comfortable than on the couch.

I am also working on the Alpine Lace Scarf from Victorian Lace Today. It can be found on page 36 still working 1st repeat of border. Progress pictures to come later. Using size 4mm needles and Jaggerspun Superlamb 2/24 in Thistle.

Well have to go and work on the Alpine Lace Scarf....

Amanda's Squatty Sidekick and my shortest post ever

Oops! Last post was a bit quick. I am excited  because I joined Ravelry today. I wanted to include the prefelted pic of Amanda, both with and with out the dog model.

Here is Siobhan, ever the ham. She thinks anything she wears makes her quite beautiful.  I happen to agree with her.

I am anxiously awaiting the post felt bag. I think the felted material is going to be great, provided the yellow felts well. If not then I will have to line it and call it Almost Amanda.

Bloggin again, with a knitted item here and there.

Wow, I have been away from the blog for quite some time .  Working on The Anniversary Mystery shawl that is free on yahoogroups from Goddess Knits. Here is the first clue that is finished

i am using Jaggerspun Superfine Merino in Mulberry. I just love this color. Of course, now I am going to be in a mystery knit-along  jones.  My poor family will have to hear me whine a million times that I need the next clue. It is wonderful fun though.

The next actual mystery shawl in the MS9 which will start in July. I just got my yarn today from Fritzl presents, it is especially dyed for the MS9 group. It is just soooo great. Once again, I feel a jones  coming on. I will have to swatch to satisfy myself.

Is this green perfect or what? As green is my favorite color, this is great. It feel really nice too which is always a plus.

I have been felting like crazy also. I made an entrelac bag for my mother with the greatest bottom ever, I based it on the free pattern for the entelac suki bag. 

Here are a few views of it. I am glad that she likes it.

She has her eye on this next little bag also. The little mine bug gets on her shoulder sometimes and I hear "mine, mine, mine" from her. She will probably end up with it too ;-)

  This cute little bag is made of scrap Noro Kureyon and some Lamb's pride worsted I believe. It came out smaller than the ones I have made before, however it calls for a thick thin yarn. I am making one out of thick thin Rio de la Plata yarn in the color LA85 which is a mix of yellow, fuchsia red and forest green.

I love this mix of colors. I think it will felt really nice. Although I know yellow can be a little iffy. I am going to hope and think positive thoughts ;-)

While I am picturing up the place here is a new picture of Dad and Gus Gus which he has painted black, himself, and did quite a great job. 

Dad is getting excited about going to the 105 Anniversary Rally for Harley.

Of course a new blog entry would not be complete with out the inclusion of dog pictures.

I am not sure where december went...

except there was a lot of knitting.  I have all kinds of photos to add and two new groups to share.  I am really excited about a couple of new projects that I am undertaking and ready to keep knitting.  I feel like I just went through the highschool chear leading I never went through back then, that is rather scary.  Well now the non scary portion of the blog ( at least I hope, one never really knows, sometimes knitted items are things only a mother or grandmother can have them passed off on.)

Still loving the artyarns and the multidirectional knitting and so is everyone who ends up with either a P102 or Cashmere 5 wristies.  Hey the pattern is free with the purchase of any skein of Cashmere 5 yarn, you can find it here at  Ewe Knit Kits & Yarn 

This photo shows a pair of Cashmere 5 wristers in color 221, a great looking peach.  The gauntlets have matching legwarmer and they are done in color 246, a great looking black.

All Right the Camera is Working, sort of...

I have been very busy lately, knitting up a storm.  I have completed the two shawls I have been working on. 

The first is another Lost Point Shawl which is for my darling Heather's wedding.  It looked spectacular with her wedding dress, so I heard.  It even looked great on the mother of the bride for part of the night.  Here is a look at it blocking...

I made it a little bigger than the pattern calls for from Eros and Borroco Touche.  Just for reference, the bed is a king size and it took almost the whole bed.  Here is another look at it.  Dad took this close up for me so that you could see the stitches better.

I actually love the color combination and the touche was a dream to knit with.  I am thinking of one similar for mom and myself.

Side note:  Mom made some darling crocheted shawls for Bridget and Taylor, no picture, though.  Bad Mom!!  We will have to wait for the wedding pictures to arrive and then I can scan one.

I am still having my love affair with art yarns:

Here is the second shawl with it's new owner.  Lorraine and Tony are posing for us along with the very unfocused Barney, he was just so excited.  Tony and Lorraine are getting ready to go on the Harley Cruise.  The shawl is a present from all of us to her so she can keep warm in the air conditioning.  Have a great time you two!!!

The shawl was just over 2 skeins of Artyarns Silk Rhapsody in color 132.  I made the center block 15", for those of you interested in making one yourself. 

I just love this pattern.  Mom is not bad either.

I think we are going to make one for us also.  In fact mom said that she wants to try a multidirectional item next.

And last but not least.  In fact, the piece de resistance is the next photo. 

Here is the long awaited photo of the Diagonal Lace Sweater from the up coming book  Lacy Little Knits: Clingy, Soft & A Little Risque by Iris Schreier. 

I made the medium size with only 3 skeins silk rhapsody in color 106 and the darling little wristies are a free pattern available with the purchase of cashmere 5.  I made them in color 130 to go with the cabled scarf shown here at Ewe Knit Kits Blog.  They will be perfect together as a two skein project for anyone this Christmas.

Well, there is much more yarn calling me, so I must answer it or it just keeps screaming louder and louder, at least I hope it is the yarn....  maybe it is mom...

What do you get when you cross multidirectional and cashmere 5?

The answer I have is P102 from Artyarns and it is a wonderful pattern.  I just am in love with it.  Another great way to spoil someone you love with a scrumptious neck warmer that is simply to die for.

Don't you just love it?  I do and so does anyone that touches it.  I am amazed it is only 1 skein of cashmere and it doesn't have to be cut, or any stitches picked up.  Seaming haters among us rejoice!!!!

I am not sure which I am going to give to my secret pal from the one skein exchange.  I have a pretty pink and fall colored sock yarn skein to give to her also.  She is from the Midwest so I think that I am going to send the neck warmer.

I have been working on a few other things, however I have not been able to photo them.  That is why the scans of the last few items.  I am having a problem with the camera and daddy has just been too busy with a couple of friends and Gus Gus. 

Here is Daddy and Gus Gus.  Gus Gus used to be a Norfolk Police bike and daddy just loves that motorcycle, so much so that he has picture of Gus Gus the motorcycle he owned before Gus Gus in his wallet.  LOL

Oh, my husband just made Chief Petty Officer in the United States Navy and here is a picture of him in his new uniform.  I am so proud of him.

Well I am off for now and going to see if I can wrangle that camera to take a picture...if not I will just have to console myself with knitting...

And then there was Cashmere 5

Well, time for a quick blogging about the secret pal angel program for One Skein Secret Pal.  It seems there are people out there who have dropped the ball on their unsuspecting pal...

So, some of us have volunteered to be an angel to a secret pal... Here is what I am working on for my pal...

This is a wrist warmer made with Artyarns Cashmere 5 in color 136.  It is sooooo soft and sumptous, I can't believe it.  My new pal says that she is into pinks, but going to fall colors and I thought this would be just perfect for her gift part.  She loves socks so I am going to give her some sock yarn also.  Here is another picture, it is a little fuzzy at the edges though, I scanned it.  Lately, scanning is a lot faster than Daddy, he has just been tooooooo busy with Gus Gus. 

I think it is not so bad to get a pair of wrist warmers out of a single skein of Cashmere 5.  Just enough to make you want more.  I just can't get enough, in fact I need to get over to Ewe Knit Kits and Yarn before she sells out again.  I don't even think she orders by color anymore unless someone asks for a special one.  She just ask for a beautiful assortment and like magic all the little pretties come from Artyarns.

I am in an Artyarns yarn frenzy it would seem.  This is also some Silk Rhapsody in 132 that will become the one piece sheer shawl.  It is for a friend of Dads who has been sick and is going on a cruise and we thought she could use something to warm up with.  Hopefully when it is all done we will get a picture of Lorraine with it on.

The other major thing I have been working on is another Lost Points Shawl for Heather's wedding.  This is just a scan of the center portion so I can show my grandma (her great grandma) and my aunt what it looks like before it is blocked.  There will definitely be another picture of it blocked and then when my baby girl ( I know Heather, Aunt Pat and Aunt Kelly know you are a grown woman, but you are always our baby).  Heather of course, will not see this post until after her wedding at the end of October, so everyone keep it a secret until then...

This is for an Otober wedding in a cream gown with fall colors as her bridal party.  I think it will be great and I hope she loves it.

Knitting... and more knitting

thus not much blogging.  I have been busy knitting away.  Here is a look at my current take along sock .  It only took me 3 times to get the right guage and color combination to show off the great new sock pattern from Six Sock Knitalong on yahoo groups. 

This is the finished socks from Aug/Sept called scales skin socks.  I changed the pattern to add a tabi toe and used eye of patridge heels.  The color is absolutely to die for.  It is ArtYarns color #103.

  It goes neon in the sun light and draws all attention to the socks.  Mom took them for a test drive today and everyone at the yarn shop just loved them. 

Here is a close up of one sock, I continued the scales down the big toe portion, really a fun knit.

I have a few updates on a couple projects from before.  Finally have a picture of the bride and her shawl, although she is wearing it at her sister's wedding a few weeks later.  I think it looks great on her though so here's Melanie.

Doesn't she look great and the shawl is perfect for her.  Her wedding was a little too hot for the shawl that day, so Stephanie's wedding was the perfect time for Melanie to enjoy her shawl.

Here is one more look at it layed out.  I just love the design.  Kudos to Southwest Trading !!!

  Her sister's turned out to be the silver one, no pictures yet as they are in Michigan.  We are going up for another wedding and taking out own pictures then...

I just love what she does with colors.  It is so great.  The design of the top is too perfect.  I think she is just so awesome.  I took a class from her at last year's Knittapalooza. I can't wait for next years.  Only 5 months and 8 days to go, but who's counting...

And So the Fighting Begins

Two dogs and one scarf can only mean one thing.  Grandma needs to make more...

Scooby as a model went for the more laid back and sexy type pose.  You know you want my scarf, but you can't have it.

Siobhan took the more classical vogue pose.  She wants to say I am beautiful and you love my scarf, but you can't have it. 

You will notice both dogs think the scarf is their's.  All I can say if mom, get knitting...
